Inktober! 12 Days In!

Inktober is one of those month long drawing challenges. Each day you challenge yourself to make one ink drawing per day. You can find an official list of prompts or you can make up your own. I first heard about it last year at the end of October (too late!) so I decided I would make an effort the next time October came around. A few months before October, I found out that Artsnacks, the monthly art supply subscription box I tried out for a few months, was releasing a special collection just for Inktober, so I pretty much had to do it.

The “Inktober” box came with a copic multiliner, a pentel hybrid technica pen, sable brush, sumi-e ink, pentel pocket brush, a dip fountain pen, and my favorite a denik sketchbook. The sketchbook has smooth but heavy duty paper that stands up pretty well to ink and my heavy use of copic markers. I don’t know if all of their sketchbooks have that exact paper, but I plan to order another one from them once mine is all filled up. The quality is great and it’s one of the first spiral sketchbooks I’ve had that doesn’t feel like it will fall apart after toting it around in my bag all day. Also they donate proceeds for each book they sell to a good cause.

I’m pretty excited to be 12 days in and still going pretty strong, because usually with a month long challenge of any sort, I get to about Day 10 and get derailed and start having to play catch up for the rest of the month. I’ve been following the official prompt list which has been pretty helpful. Not only am I getting a chance to play around with ink on a page, but I’m drawing things I might not have decided to just draw on my own otherwise.
